She thought she heard crying inside her home—what she found was chilling

Imagine coming home after a long day, looking forward to the comfort of your own space, only to be met with something completely unexpected.

The familiarity of your home, the place where you should feel safest, suddenly feels different—something feels off.

That’s exactly what happened to Virginia resident Joette Breeden, and what she discovered would leave anyone shaken.

It was a quiet evening on March 27, just before 10 p.m., when Joette Breeden returned home from a family gathering.

As she stepped inside, she heard the sound of crying—a faint but distinct noise coming from somewhere inside her house.

At first, she brushed it off, thinking it could be coming from her television.

But as the moments passed, she realized the chilling truth: the sound was real, and it was coming from inside her home.

A shocking discovery

Her television was off. The house was dark, with only the dim glow of the moonlight casting shadows across the room.

Then, as her eyes adjusted, she saw him—a stranger sitting on her couch, his body covered in blood.

Instinct took over. Without hesitation, Breeden turned and ran. She rushed to her car, locked the doors, and with shaking hands, dialed 911.

The reality of what she had just witnessed was overwhelming.

A mysterious intruder

When authorities arrived, they found the man severely injured, with what officials described as "obvious trauma to his body and neck."

Deputies provided immediate medical aid until emergency responders arrived.

Sadly, despite their efforts, his injuries were too severe.

He was rushed to Winchester Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Breeden later told Fox 5 that she hadn't seen the man at first—just heard his cries.

But something else stood out: when she arrived home, the door to her carport was already open.

Had someone broken in? And if so, why?
