Shocking Walmart policy change leaves shoppers furious: Here’s why one person’s trip took 4 hours!

Can you imagine planning a quick one-hour dash to Walmart for your weekly essentials, only to find yourself trapped in a retail maze for an entire afternoon?

This isn't the plot of a modern-day mystery but the reality for one shopper whose frustration boiled over into an expletive-filled social media tirade.

The cause of this unexpected marathon? A policy change at Walmart that has left customers across the nation feeling more like they're pulling off a heist than simply running errands. How will this affect you?

Kenn Rapp, a Walmart customer, took to social media to vent his ire, his post peppered with colorful language that left no doubt about his irritation.

His irritation led him to remark that Walmart “…really doesn't want us to shop here,” he added, “everything's…locked up!”

His usual one-hour shopping trip had quadrupled in duration, as he found himself waiting for staff to unlock case after case of everyday items.

Walmart was quick to respond, promising to investigate Kenn's complaint. “Let us investigate this experience for you, Kenn,” a Walmart representative replied, asking for more details via direct messages.

Whether Kenn followed up or not remains a mystery, but his experience has struck a chord with many.

Walmart, like many retailers, has been locking up a variety of items in an effort to deter theft. The fear of retail theft has been a hot topic in 2023, with some reports suggesting that it's on the rise, leading to a nationwide increase in locked-up goods.

However, the accuracy of these theft reports has been questioned, with the National Retail Federation even retracting a report that claimed organized retail crime was causing billions in losses.

The debate rages on as some believe that these lock-ups are a necessary evil, while others think that it’s an overreaction.

While some shoppers appreciate the added security measures, others are left feeling criminalized by the inconvenience.

The policy has certainly changed the shopping experience, with customers now often having to wait for a staff member to unlock items ranging from baby formula and electronics to more mundane products like toothbrushes or t-shirts.

The backlash against Walmart's anti-theft measures has been palpable. Online forums and social media are abuzz with disgruntled customers, some even vowing to boycott the retail giant.

One shopper's sentiment of “feeling like a criminal” follows a promise of a boycott.

Target also seems to continue placing their goods behind glass, while Walgreens’ CEO remarked that this anti-theft strategy “backfired.”

Recently, Walmart also upgraded over 2,000 stores by introducing digital shelf labels and making updates to price changes available with just one click on your phone.

Aside from going digital, Walmart has also heightened their security by putting body cameras on their workers’ uniforms to “provide great customer service while creating a safer environment.”

I saw that facial cleanser was locked up so I was leaving and a lady just happens to come by before I got out of that lane so she opened it for me.If she hadn’t come by when she did I would’ve left I will not wait for someone to come.In my opinion the stores that do that will lose business.
