Shortcut Cherry Danish
This shortcut cherry Danish is simple to make with refrigerated crescent dough sheets. Filled with a dollop each of sweetened, whipped cream cheese and cherry pie filling, and glazed after baking, they're delicious without being time-consuming.
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
- 1 (8 ounce) tube crescent dough sheet
- 4 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
- 1/2 cup cherry pie filling
- 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk, or as needed
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice the crescent dough sheet into 10 equal rounds without unrolling it. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Indent each round by pressing the back of a tablespoon into the center.
- Make the filling: In a bowl, beat cream cheese, white sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract with an electric mixer until smooth. Spoon a dollop into each dough indentation.
- Bake for 8 minutes.
- Add cherry filling: Remove from the oven and add a spoonful of cherry pie filling (about 4–5 cherries) to each Danish.
- Return to oven and bake for another 9 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the glaze: Whisk together confectioners’ sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and just enough milk to make a pourable glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over warm Danishes and serve.
