Sunday Classics 07.13.2025
Hey GrayViners!
Every week, we ask you to share the songs that still tug at your heartstrings—and once again, you delivered in style. From crooners to rockers, ballads to boogie, it’s always tough to pick a favorite. But the GrayVine community has spoken loud and clear... and this week’s winner is the heartfelt anthem that always stops us in our tracks.

This classic was suggested by our very own GrayViner, @Hazeleyes, who shared a special memory to go along with it: "
“A small tidbit of information: I met Cyndi when she was 6 years old. Her grandma lived 2 doors down from my Aunt. Even then she had a unique clothing style.”

Now, how’s that for a hometown connection? From one neighborhood to radios everywhere, this song has truly stood the test of time.
“Time After Time” was actually Cyndi Lauper’s very first No. 1 hit, released in 1983. It was co-written with Rob Hyman of The Hooters (yes, those Hooters!) and was nearly left off her debut album, She’s So Unusual. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed—and the song went on to become one of the most beloved ballads of the '80s. Its name came from an old sci-fi film, but the lyrics are pure, heartfelt poetry. Over the years, it’s been covered by dozens of artists, but nothing beats the original.
It's your turn, GrayViners! Got a classic that deserves its moment in the spotlight? Drop your song suggestion in the comments below. The one with the most reactions will be featured in next week’s Sunday Classics right here in the newsletter.
Let’s keep the jukebox spinning, because the memories never go out of style.
Cheers!
Blue
