The savings breakdown

Imagine walking down the aisles and picking up Clover Valley canned vegetables, starting at $1, and thanks to the “buy two get one free” deal, you're essentially getting each can for about 67 cents. That's a steal!

Other sides like Pillsbury biscuits and crescent rolls are available at two for $5, Philadelphia Cream Cheese at two for $5, and Betty Crocker cake mixes and icing at two for $3.50.

The Thanksgiving offers at Dollar General kicked off on November 17 and will continue through the holiday, which falls on November 28 this year.

However, take note that some promotions may end earlier on November 23, so it's best to plan your shopping trip accordingly.

A focus on healthier holiday options

In a delightful twist, Dollar General isn't just focusing on affordability; they're also committed to offering healthier options for your holiday table.

They've partnered with Mary Alice Cain, a registered dietitian and nutritionist, to create “Better For You” recipes that won't break the bank.

These include dishes like Baked Apple Pecan Chicken, Candied Nuts, Green Beans with Crunchy Ramen Topping, and Twice Baked Potatoes, all for less than $2.50 each.

Allen Warch, vice president and division merchandise manager of food and fresh at Dollar General, highlighted the company's mission to provide nutritious food that's both affordable and accessible, especially in underserved communities.

"At Dollar General, we understand access to nutritious food is critical," wrote Warch in the company’s announcement.

"Our team works relentlessly to make healthier options both affordable and accessible for customers and communities. We are proud to exhibit our mission of Serving Others by providing diverse, quality food choices to underserved communities, regardless of their location or economic status," he added.

Choosing your Thanksgiving retailer

With several retail giants announcing their own Thanksgiving meal deals, shoppers will have to decide between stores like Aldi, Dollar General, Target, and Walmart.

Your choice will likely depend on your budget, personal preferences, and the specific deals each retailer offers.

This year, Target offers a Thanksgiving feast for four people for only $20 while ALDI’s Thanksgiving package promises a feast for 10 people for under $50.

More ways to save

Dollar General is also hosting “DG Deal Days,” a series of three-day sales events every Thursday through Saturday leading up to December 25.

These events started on Halloween and offer additional discounts on top of other promotions, including $5 off purchases of $25 on Saturdays.

To stay informed about all the discounts and promotions, Dollar General recommends using its mobile application, which can be a handy tool for planning your shopping strategy.
