The Brain Transplant
A patient’s family gathered anxiously as the doctor gave his report. “It’s serious,” he said.
“The only possible treatment is a brain transplant. It’s experimental, but it might work. The tricky part is, you’ll have to cover the cost yourselves.”
The family exchanged worried glances. Finally, one of them asked, “How much does a brain cost?”
The doctor replied, “For a male brain, $500,000. For a female brain, $200,000.”
The room went silent. Some of the men tried to look surprised—but most just nodded knowingly. A few even smiled to themselves.
But the patient’s daughter frowned. “Wait a minute,” she said. “Why is there such a big difference in price?”
The doctor shrugged. “Simple,” he said. “Women’s brains have to be marked down… they’ve actually been used.”
