The "Highest Court in the Land"
When people talk about the highest court in the land, they’re usually referring to the Supreme Court. But here’s a fun twist—the other highest court in the land isn’t where cases are argued… it’s where games are played!
Tucked away on the top floor of the Supreme Court building is a basketball court, used by clerks, off-duty officers, and even justices looking for a little exercise. So, while history is being made downstairs, there just might be a pickup game happening right above it!
And in case you were wondering—yes, there were rules. A sign once read: "PLAYING BASKETBALL AND WEIGHT LIFTING ARE PROHIBITED WHILE THE COURT IS IN SESSION." We’re not sure if it’s still there, but talk about keeping order on both courts!
