The History Of The Rollercoaster

The American roller coaster actually has a fascinating and somewhat surprising origin story. In the late 1800s, a man named LaMarcus Thompson, often called the "Father of the American Roller Coaster," designed the first modern roller coaster as a wholesome alternative to what he viewed as the immoral temptations of the time, like saloons and dance halls. So in a way, roller coasters were invented to "save America from Satan" by giving people a fun, family-friendly activity that wouldn’t lead them astray. Got a fun fact you’d like to share?
