The History Of The Rollercoaster
The American roller coaster actually has a fascinating and somewhat surprising origin story. In the late 1800s, a man named LaMarcus Thompson, often called the "Father of the American Roller Coaster," designed the first modern roller coaster as a wholesome alternative to what he viewed as the immoral temptations of the time, like saloons and dance halls.
