This supplement recall just got more serious—here’s what changed

If you take vitamin gummies regularly, now’s the time to take a closer look at the label.

More than 40,000 bottles of Vitamin B12 supplements have been recalled across the US after routine testing revealed a possible allergen that wasn’t listed on the packaging.

For anyone with an allergy—or living with someone who has one—this recall is serious.

Even a small exposure can be dangerous, and the FDA has issued its most urgent classification: Class I, reserved for products that could cause serious harm or even death.

Here’s what you need to know to stay safe

Which gummies are affected?

The affected gummies were sold under three brand names and all share the same lot number (248046601) and expiration date (10/2026).

The recall was issued due to the potential presence of an undeclared peanut allergen, which poses a serious risk to individuals with peanut allergies.

Why the update matters

The FDA’s Class I recall classification means there is a “reasonable probability” that the product could cause serious health effects or even death in certain individuals.

While no allergic reactions have been reported as of mid-June, the warning highlights how dangerous accidental peanut exposure can be for those with severe allergies.

What to do if you have these gummies

  • Stop using them immediately, regardless of whether you have a known allergy.
  • Return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund, or dispose of it safely.
  • Watch for symptoms if you suspect exposure, especially in individuals with peanut allergies.

Symptoms can range from itching and swelling to difficulty breathing and fainting.

In extreme cases, anaphylaxis can occur—so prompt medical attention is critical.

While it can be concerning to see frequent recalls, it also shows that safety protocols are working.

Manufacturers, retailers, and regulators are becoming more proactive in testing and transparency.

Though inconvenient, recalls like this one are a sign that systems are in place to catch potential risks before harm is done.
