Tower Records

We rarely come across stores for albums, movies, or music memorabilia these days. But during their prime, Tower Records was the place to be—a vibrant cultural hub where music lovers could lose themselves in rows of new releases, catch live performances, or meet their favorite artists at album signings. Were you one of the lucky ones who frequented this iconic store? Let us know in the comments! And if you want to share stories from before, post them here!

I actually worked for 3 Tower stores in Sacramento California late 70’s to 80’s.Russ Solomon lived near one and a constant customer.
I did again in 2000’s in Atlanta Georgia around 12-13 years total. It was a unique time for me. So much fun meeting artist and various types of music loving customers. There still is Tower in Japan. Kids are missing out experiencing a real Record store.

What an amazing experience that must have been, working at Tower Records during such a unique time in music history! Meeting artists and connecting with music-loving customers sounds like a real joy, and you're right—today’s kids are truly missing out on the magic of real record stores. I recently went to Japan and should have visited! I'll take note of that and make sure to dropy by when I get back. Thanks for sharing those great memories!
