Unlock a $5,000 windfall with no proof required—are you eligible for this massive payout?

Imagine discovering that you could be owed up to $5,000—without having to provide any proof. Sounds too good to be true?

Well, this time, it’s not.

A recently announced class action settlement means that certain individuals may be eligible for a payout from a $1.74 million fund.

At the center of this settlement is Consumer Safety Technology, also known as Intoxalock, a company that provides devices designed to prevent drunk driving.

These devices require a breathalyzer test before allowing a vehicle to start, an important safety measure.

However, Intoxalock has found itself in legal trouble over claims that it recorded phone calls without obtaining proper consent—a potential violation of privacy laws.

The Allegations and the Settlement

A lawsuit alleges that Intoxalock violated California’s privacy laws by recording telephone conversations without notifying or obtaining consent from callers.

This is a serious issue, as California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) requires businesses to inform individuals before recording any call.

While the company has not admitted to any wrongdoing, it has agreed to settle the case financially.

If you had a phone conversation with an Intoxalock sales representative between May 18, 2021, and February 8, 2022, you may be eligible to receive compensation.

How to Claim Your Share

Filing a claim is simple. The amount each individual receives will depend on the total number of claims submitted, but the maximum payout is capped at $5,000 per person.

To ensure fairness, funds will be distributed among all approved claimants.

The final approval hearing for the settlement is approaching, and there’s an important deadline to keep in mind: March 12.

If you're uncertain about your eligibility as a Settlement Class Member, you can contact the Claims Administrator at 1-888-896-7617.

You can also email [email protected] to verify if your phone number is included in the list of qualifying calls for the Class Period.

To receive a settlement payment, you must submit a Claim Form here. If you fail to do so by March 12, 2025, you will not be eligible for compensation.

A Broader Look at Settlements and Your Rights

Cases like this highlight the importance of knowing your rights, especially regarding personal privacy.

Companies must follow laws that protect consumers, and when they don’t, they can be held accountable.

These types of settlements not only compensate those affected but also serve as a reminder that privacy matters.

In addition to this case, another settlement has been announced involving Legends OWO, the company behind the One World Observatory in New York City.

They have agreed to pay nearly a million dollars to customers over undisclosed ticket processing fees.

If you purchased a ticket during a specific timeframe, you might also be eligible for compensation.
