Valerie Mahaffey, the Emmy-winning actress celebrated for her wide-ranging performances on stage and screen, has passed away at age 71.

Her film credits also included family favorites and award-nominated dramas like Jungle 2 Jungle, Senior Trip, and Seabiscuit.

While her work was public, Valerie Mahaffey chose to keep her health battle private. Her death in Los Angeles was confirmed by publicist Jillian Roscoe.

In a heartfelt tribute, her husband, actor Joseph Kell, stated: “I have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actresses. She will be missed.”

Mahaffey is survived by her husband and their daughter, Alice Richards. Though the news came as a surprise to fans, it serves as a reminder that personal battles often unfold quietly, even behind the most recognizable smiles.
