There’s a new twist on a childhood classic that’s grabbing attention nationwide. Launching July 14, it’s already generating buzz for its simple recipe and bold nutritional claims.
Walmart has rolled out a healthier version of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, aiming straight at ingredient-conscious shoppers.
Known as “Jams,” the product is a protein-packed update designed to replace traditional PB&Js with a cleaner, more modern option.
Jams sandwiches come individually packaged and are free from seed oils, high-fructose corn syrup, and artificial dyes.
Each serving offers 10 grams of protein, with familiar flavors like Strawberry and Mixed Berry on the menu.
The sandwiches were created by The DropOut Companies, a Nashville-based firm that wants to merge nostalgic comfort food with modern health values.
Their goal is to deliver the same familiar taste without the processed extras found in most shelf-ready PB&Js.

"Jams was born from a simple belief: you shouldn't have to choose between delicious taste and ingredients you can feel good about," said founder Connor Blakley.
He emphasized that the product “does not taste like artificial garbage,” and that value and quality were key to the brand’s identity.
Blakley credited Walmart for making the product widely available, calling the retailer an “incredible partner” in helping Jams reach a nationwide audience.
He added that the product’s launch reflects how consumers are gravitating toward snacks that combine indulgence with better nutrition.

Co-founder Josh Franko echoed the same vision, stating: “Jams represents everything we believe brands should be—innovative, bold and authentic.”
Instead of targeting just kids or parents, the brand is leaning into its crossover appeal—recognizing that even adults are craving cleaner, on-the-go snack options.
With its familiar flavor profile and updated nutrition, the sandwich is positioned as a guilt-free grab-and-go option for all ages.
The release taps into a growing demand for upgraded versions of nostalgic foods. Consumers are increasingly looking for clean labels and protein-forward snacks, particularly ones that feel familiar but perform better nutritionally.
