One viral clip shows TikToker Sophie Saldana ordering chili, nuggets, fries, and a Diet Coke, racking up a $77 bill for the spread.
“Worth it,” she captioned the video, dipping nuggets into the large container of chili. Another creator, Omar the Critic, dumped chicken nuggets straight into his chili bucket before attempting to drink it with a straw.
Wendy’s has confirmed that “Family Sized Chili” is real—but it isn’t available everywhere. A company representative explained that availability depends on location, and customers can check the website or app to see if their local restaurant participates.
Prices also vary, so one person’s chili bucket might cost much more or less depending on where they live. For those who can’t find it nearby, Wendy’s did expand into grocery stores in 2023 with canned chili, which is still widely sold.
Some customers, however, have been disappointed in their quest. Influencer Jordan the Stallion documented an attempt in January 2024, only to be told no by his local Wendy’s.

The reporter who followed up on the trend had a similar experience in Washington, D.C., where staff quickly rejected the chili request.
That location did, however, confirm a “family-size” nugget bucket with 45 pieces—a possible alternative for game-day crowds.
The chili bucket debate has left fans amused, but also curious about what other hidden items might exist.
With Olive Garden offering take-home soup packs and chains like Target, Costco, and Walmart selling bulk-sized meals, fast food “family size” options are becoming more common.
But when it comes to Wendy’s chili, the reality is that only certain locations actually ladle it out by the bucket.
