What happened to Wendy Williams? Inside her heartbreaking battle with dementia!

The entertainment world was shaken by the recent revelations regarding Wendy Williams, the iconic talk show host known for her candid and vibrant personality. Best known for her talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, no one ever thought she’d go silent one day.

However, a court filing on November 12 has brought to light the severity of her health struggles, painting a picture of a woman who is now on the losing end of her battle with dementia. What happened to Wendy?

Wendy Williams, who has been a household name since The Wendy Williams Show first aired in 2008, is currently under a court-ordered guardianship after her bank, Wells Fargo, raised concerns about her capacity to handle her affairs.

This guardianship, which began in May 2022, covers both her health and financial matters, indicating the gravity of her situation.

The court documents, obtained by The Post, were filed by attorneys for Williams' guardian, Sabrina Morrissey.

Morrissey describes Williams, at 60 years old, as “...cognitively impaired and permanently disabled, and incapacitated.” This news is particularly heartbreaking for fans who have followed her career and admired her resilience through various personal and health challenges.

The filing also accuses several defendants, including Lifetime’s parent company A&E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment Services, EOne Productions, Creature Films, and executive producer Mark Ford, of exploiting Williams' vulnerability.

The claim is that these parties produced a documentary about Williams, Where is Wendy Williams, at a time when she was unable to give informed consent due to her cognitive decline.

The legal team representing Morrissey alleges that the defendants “intentionally manipulated and goaded” Williams to capture emotional reactions and potentially embarrassing footage. They are pleading with the court to protect Williams' privacy by redacting sensitive information about her health, family relationships, and finances from the public record.

In a twist of legal back-and-forth, the defendants have countered by stating that the lawsuit stems from Morrissey's own failures to protect her ward.

They assert that they had Williams' consent and participation for the documentary before her dementia diagnosis and the establishment of the guardianship.

Williams was diagnosed with primary aggressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, sharing the same health battles with Bruce Willis, in 2023.

Both parties are requesting a trial, which they anticipate could last between two to four weeks.

The situation is further complicated by a lawsuit filed by Morrissey in September, which alleges that Williams was incapable of consenting to be filmed for the documentary. In response, the defendants have filed countersuits against Morrissey, and the case is now in the hands of the federal court.

Before the Lifetime documentary's release, Williams' family spoke to People magazine, revealing that the Think Like A Man Too star is currently in a care facility. They also shared the distressing detail that they can only communicate with her when she initiates contact.

Wendy Williams' health journey has been fraught with challenges, including diagnoses of aphasia and dementia, as well as battles with Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and past addictions to alcohol and cocaine.
