What Would The Grandkids Say? 04.11.2025

Hey GrayViners!

Time for another fun addition to your Gen Z vocabulary! Today’s word: "salty."

Nope, it’s not a new flavor of chips or a term for the sea—though it definitely packs some attitude!

“Salty” is used when someone’s a bit annoyed, irritated, or just feeling some type of way—kind of like when you're in a mood and can’t shake it off.

You might hear someone say, “Don’t be so salty!” when they're teasing a friend who's not too thrilled about something. (It’s all in good fun!) So, if someone calls you “salty,” don’t take it to heart—it just means you’re not exactly in your happiest mood.

Who do you know that might be a little “salty” sometimes? Drop it in the comments!

With love,
Sophia 💓

While serving in the US Navy, we called Sailors "salty" if they spent a great amount of time at sea instead of shore duty.

Everyone can be "salty" at times. We can wake up in the morning thanking God for another beautiful day. Then life happens. Try to stay cheerful and deal with whatever life hands you.
