What's That Term?
Ever find yourself snacking just because your mouth feels lonely? It’s called “kuchisabishii” (pronounced: Koo-chi-sa-bi-shē)! This Japanese term means “mouth loneliness” and describes eating out of boredom rather than hunger. While there’s no literal English translation, the word “peckish” might be the closest fit.
That said, “kuchisabishii” can also be applied to actions unrelated to eating or feeling hungry. For instance, it can be used when you just want to chew gum or smoke a cigarette. I am curious: What’s your go-to snack for when you’re bored?
