A Colorado mom’s social media video has exploded in popularity, revealing a shocking moment involving her toddlers. What was supposed to be a playful afternoon turned into a chilling discovery that no parent could ever expect.

Could this truly be happening, or is it just too bizarre to believe?

“The boys got PawPaw!” Monica Long exclaimed in the video clip with over 2.4 million views—a statement that would soon reveal a much more unsettling truth than she initially thought.

The single mother of three had stepped away for a mere few minutes, seeking a brief respite in the bathroom while preparing for a birthday party.

Little did she know, her two young sons, ages three and two, were about to embark on an adventure that would leave Long—and the internet—aghast.

Upon returning, Long was met with a sight that seemed innocent enough at first glance: her boys covered in what appeared to be white dirt, their faces, bodies, and the floor all smeared with the mysterious substance.

It wasn't until days later that the grim reality hit her.

The container that once held their grandfather's ashes was empty, and the “dirt” was, in fact, the cremated remains of their beloved PawPaw.

In a distressing revelation, Long recounted on social media how she had unknowingly vacuumed up the ashes, not realizing the true identity of the powdery mess.

The possibility that her children might have ingested some of the ashes added a layer of horror to the already shocking incident.

“They may have eaten some of him too because [one of them] had the cap in his mouth. Jesus Christ.” she said, torn between despair and disbelief.

The incident is reminiscent of a scene from the 2000 comedy Meet the Parents, where a cat uses a grandmother's ashes as a litter box.

However, for Long and her family, the situation was far from scripted humor.

The question of how the children accessed the ashes was answered by Long's realization that her sons, being the climbers they are, had managed to reach the shelf where the urn was placed and unscrew the cap, presumably with their teeth.

Long's emotional rollercoaster was shared by many who watched her recount the story.

While she herself didn't know whether to laugh or cry, she believed that her father would have found humor in the situation.

“Would he have found this story funny? Absolutely,” she said in a follow-up video.

“He would have definitely gotten a kick out of this whole ordeal.”

The social media community also found a way to see the lighter side of the grim tale, with comments ranging from empathetic laughter to heartfelt condolences.

One viewer remarked, “I’m sorry but the snort laugh I let out when you zoomed in on what’s left of pawpaw.”

Others suggested that PawPaw would be laughing along, his memory living on not only in his family but now in the wider world thanks to the shared story.

Monica Long's father, a Vietnam War veteran and a school teacher with a history of 'shenanigan stories' from his days as a principal, was a man of faith and humor.

While part of his remains met an unexpected fate, Long reassured her audience that the rest of her father's ashes were safely interred in a veterans' cemetery in Texas.

When Long informed her mother, MawMaw, of the incident, she offered a comforting perspective: “Don’t worry—we have more PawPaw.”
