Love Takes Flight
Imagine being whisked away on a small aircraft, soaring above the clouds on your very first date. Lois Klotz from Englewood, Florida, didn't have to imagine.

Her cousin had been singing the praises of her husband's flight instructor, Bill—a shy but determined suitor. When Bill finally mustered the courage to ask Lois out, he planned an unforgettable excursion.

They flew from New Jersey to Connecticut for dinner, then to Pennsylvania for dessert, and capped the evening with a breathtaking flight over Manhattan.

Lois's head wasn't the only thing spinning with excitement that night; her heart was too, and she knew they were destined for a lifetime together.

Classroom Courtship
Jan Roland from Wabash, Indiana, shares a story that's less about the date and more about “the ask.” In a scene straight out of a rom-com, her future husband interrupted her high school class with a dinner invitation.

The students' reaction? A round of applause, whistles, and cheers. The lesson plan was forgotten, but the memory of that bold move—and the subsequent date—remains a cherished chapter in their love story.

The Disco Mishap
Christine Tunanidis of Port Richey, Florida, recounts a date that turned heads—and popped out an eye!

I come from a family of policemen. My father, 2 brothers, an uncle, and extended family members were all city police officers. One day a nice enough young man asked me for a date and I agreed. When he came to the house and met my father, a bead of sweat rolled down his face when he realized my father was a retired police officer. My father sensed his nervousness and slightly delayed our leaving with a few extra questions. Just as we were about to leave, my brother (in uniform) and his partner walked in the front door. My date was visibly nervous. My brother couldn’t miss the chance for some sibling fun. Only to have my other brother (in uniform) walk in the back door with his partner and was glad to join in the fun. My brothers only showed because my mom (awesome cook)had a large pot of soup on the stove and they stopped for lunch without knowing about my date or the intent of one another visiting…..totally coincidence! When my date and I were able to make a break to the car, he said “why didn’t you tell me you came from a police family?” Actually, I never even thought it would be a problem. So we go on our date, and actually had a very nice perfect first. On the way home, he gets pulled over by a policeman. When the officer reaches for license and registration, he recognizes me from my brothers and asks …..”aren’t you so-n-so sister?” He was pulled over and given a warning about a broken tail light. I was no more good and laughed trying to make my date less nervous. We never had a second date which was probably just as well because I’m sure he had at least one skeleton in his closet!
