Would you dare solve this chilling “numbers clue?” New homeowners uncover an eerie warning hidden in their house

Moving into a new home is usually the start of something exciting—a fresh chapter filled with possibilities.

But for Seattle couple Anita Rainier and her husband, their move-in day came with something unexpected: a cryptic note hidden in a place no one would think to look.

What they found would send curious chills through anyone who’s ever watched a true crime documentary.

A chilling discovery in the kitchen

It started with an innocent conversation.

The Rainiers were arranging furniture in their kitchen when Anita crouched down to get a better look at a display cabinet.

That’s when she spotted something strange: a tightly folded piece of paper wedged just out of sight. Curious, she pulled it out—and froze.

Inside were five handwritten words: “Don’t look under the floor.”

Was it a joke? A leftover prank from the previous owners? Or something darker?

The Rainiers weren’t sure what to think, but their mystery was just beginning.

The numbers that led nowhere

On the back of the note, Anita discovered a long, seemingly random number: 29065300489382.

They tried everything to make sense of it—Google searches, breaking it down by house number, ZIP code, and year of construction, but nothing added up.

The number didn’t appear to be a phone number, product code, or anything recognizable.

Stumped, they decided to take the mystery online.

Reddit to the rescue

Posting to Reddit, the Rainiers hoped the internet’s hive mind could help solve the riddle.

And while no one cracked the code, the theories poured in.

One user pointed out that the first portion of the number matched a model of a bolt-action shotgun.

Another noted that part of it linked to a Library of Congress identifier for a private investigator handbook.

While most Redditors agreed the previous homeowner was probably just having some fun, the couple was left with more questions than answers—and a lingering curiosity about what might be beneath their floorboards.

The allure of a hidden message

What is it about a hidden note that captures our imagination?

Maybe it’s the thrill of the unknown, or the idea that every home carries secrets from the people who lived there before.

Sometimes these mysteries are practical—keys to hidden safes or notes about renovations, but others are just pure mischief.

The Rainiers say they’ve decided not to investigate further for now.

“Odds are, someday we’re going to take a look under the floor,” Anita admitted.
