You could be entitled to $25,000: Find out if you qualify for this massive data breach settlement

Data breaches have become an unfortunate reality in today’s digital world.

Now, one major company is paying out millions in compensation to affected customers.

If you were impacted, you might be eligible for a significant payout.

A class action lawsuit was filed against T-Mobile after a 2021 data breach compromised sensitive customer information.

The breach exposed addresses, dates of birth, ID information, and some Social Security numbers.

The T-Mobile breach in question exposed sensitive information.

Although financial details weren’t leaked, this type of data can lead to identity theft and fraud.

T-Mobile customers claimed the company failed to take adequate cybersecurity precautions to prevent the breach.

CEO Mike Sievert acknowledged the failure, stating, “Knowing that we failed to prevent this exposure is one of the hardest parts of this event.”

Settlement payments will begin in April 2025 and will continue for the entire month.

The maximum payout of $25,000 is reserved for claimants who submitted proof of out-of-pocket expenses related to the breach.

These expenses could include:
  • Credit monitoring fees.
  • Identity theft or fraud-related costs.
  • Up to $25 per hour of lost time spent resolving breach-related issues.

For those who did not submit documentation, the settlement still provides smaller compensation amounts:
  • $25 for most claimants.
  • $100 for California residents.

Additionally, all eligible claimants will receive two years of identity protection services through Pango.

These services include:
  • Credit monitoring from TransUnion.
  • Dark web monitoring.
  • $1 million in identity theft insurance.

Class action lawsuits allow large groups of affected consumers to take legal action against companies.

These cases can involve issues like:
  • Data breaches.
  • False advertising.
  • Corporate negligence.
Companies often settle class actions to avoid prolonged litigation costs, even if they deny wrongdoing.

By accepting a settlement payout, claimants typically waive their right to further legal action against the company.

If you were a T-Mobile customer at the time of the breach, check the settlement website for eligibility details.

Even if you missed the January 23, 2023, claim deadline, it’s important to stay vigilant about protecting your personal data.

Monitoring your credit, enabling security alerts, and staying updated on other settlements can help prevent future risks.
