Yule Lads
Did you know that there are other Christmas figures besides Santa Claus? In Iceland, they have Yule Lads! They are a group of 13 mischievous trolls who come to town one by one during the 13 nights leading up to Christmas. Children would leave shoes on the window sills for them—if they have been good, the Lads will fill them with sweets. If not, they will find a rotten potato instead!
