Quote of the Day 06.29.2025

"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." – Theodore Roosevelt

I came across this old quote from Teddy Roosevelt the other day, and it really stuck with me. “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Simple words—but goodness, they hit home.

A lot of you have lived through more than a few seasons of life, right? You've raised families, built careers, lost people you loved, and adapted to a world that keeps changing faster than you can blink. And still, here you are—doing the best you can with what you've got.

Sometimes it's easy to feel like we should be doing more, or like we're falling behind in a world that seems to run on overdrive. But this quote reminds us that showing up, doing our part—whether it's lending a hand to a neighbor, making time for a phone call, or even just taking care of ourselves—is more than enough.

Would love to hear what this quote means to you. Have you ever had a moment in life where you lived this out, even when things weren’t ideal?

Let's discuss below!

Cheers!

My husband and I had carbon monoxide poisoning 5 years ago. He had to learn how to use utensils again. I had short and long term memory loss. He can feed himself normally and part of my memory has returned. We are left with severe mobility issues. That’s where the quote comes into play. ‘Do what you can, with what you have, where you are’. We can no longer drive and need medical transport to go to Doctors appointments. We have made life as best we can with what we have! We love TR’s quote. 😉

Thank you so much for sharing your story @Gayle B. — what an incredible testament to strength and perseverance. I can only imagine how difficult those early days must have been for both of you. It’s inspiring to hear how you’ve adapted and found ways to live fully despite the challenges. Has there been something small — a daily routine or activity — that’s brought unexpected joy or comfort as you've adjusted? And how wonderful that the quote resonates so deeply with you both. 😊
