Isn’t that a beautiful truth? There’s something so special about the kind of wisdom that only comes from living, learning, and experiencing life’s ups and downs. It’s not about having all the answers—it’s about seeing the world through years of laughter, love, loss, and growth. Every wrinkle, every story, every memory holds a bit of that quiet glory Lailah Gifty Akita was talking about.

So, let’s hear it from you—what’s one piece of wisdom you’ve learned over the years that you wish you could pass down to younger generations? It could be something funny, heartfelt, or hard-earned.

Share it in the forum, and let’s fill today’s thread with the kind of insight that only a life well-lived can teach.

Cheers!

Don't ever pick up the smoking habit. In today's society, it's not as popular as when I grew up, thank God. It will stop you from getting a job and sometimes a promotion. Of course, it goes without saying what it does to your body.

Thanks for sharing that wise advice @NIBOR0 ! You make such a good point — smoking used to be so common, but it’s great to see attitudes changing for the better. It’s true that the effects go far beyond health, even impacting opportunities in life and work. What do you think helped bring about that shift in how people view smoking today?

Never be late for work and give 8 hours of work for 8 hours of pay
Thanks for sharing that @Arkie — such a timeless piece of wisdom! Reliability and a strong work ethic really do speak volumes about a person’s character. It’s something many employers still value deeply today. Did someone in your life teach you that principle early on, or did you learn it through experience over the years?
