At The Zoo
A married couple, Mark and Mary, were walking past the gorilla enclosure at the zoo.
Mary said, “You know, gorillas really do remind me of humans in some ways. They’re intelligent, curious, and expressive.”
Mark smiled. “Let’s see just how much they notice. Wave at it and see if it responds.”
Mary waved, and sure enough, the gorilla noticed her and came closer, clearly fascinated.
“See?” said Mary. “They’re observant—just like people!”
Mark laughed. “Try showing it your hat. Maybe it’ll copy you.”
Mary took off her hat, twirled it playfully, and put it back on. The gorilla clapped its hands as if impressed.
“Wow,” Mark said. “That’s amazing. It really does act like us.”
Then the gorilla suddenly started pounding its chest and bouncing excitedly. Mary stepped back and said, “Oh dear—maybe I overdid it!”
Mark chuckled and said, “Now you know how I feel when you buy a new hat.”
