Front Porch Forum: “Lost in the Loop” (06/17/2025)
Hello, GrayViners! Today’s letter is for anyone who enjoys a good family catch-up—even if the conversation sometimes moves quicker than we’d like.
Dear TGV,
Staying in touch with family has always meant a lot to me. These days, with everyone so spread out, I’m grateful for the group chat my grandchildren set up on my phone. I enjoy seeing everyone’s photos and reading their updates, and it’s nice to feel part of things—even from my favorite chair.
That said, sometimes the messages come in quicker than raindrops in April! By the time I’ve made a cup of tea and found my glasses, the topic has changed three times. I usually catch up later, reading through everyone’s news at my own pace. If I’m feeling bold, I might even send a little story or a thumbs-up, just to let them know I’m here and paying attention.
I’m curious—how do you keep up with family chatter in this world of constant pings and dings? Do you have any routines, tips, or favorite ways to stay connected? Or maybe you still like a good old-fashioned phone call now and then.
Any advice would help,
Lost in the Loop
There you have it. We’d love to hear your thoughts—feel free to jump into the conversation. And if something’s on your mind, send them our way!
