General Discussion Thread 03.17.2025

Welcome to today’s General Discussion Thread!

It's another March-tastic Monday morning, GrayViners! I (Ally) hope you all had a nice weekend. Let's start the week with a fun icebreaker, shall we? Would you rather be stuck in the last book you've read or the last show you've watched? Share your reasons in the comments below! 💜

Or, if you have something else you'd like to share—whether it’s a cool fact you just learned, a funny story, or something that’s been bothering you—feel free to comment them down, too! This General Discussion Thread is created just for you, so feel free to engage with your fellow members!

Now, what's on YOUR mind today?

Last movie I watched was set around the Aegean Sea. The book I’m reading takes place in West Virginia…yeah, movie!

If I could choose, I'd rather be stuck in the last streaming program I watched, Matlock (with Kathy Bates) because it's where I'd be comfortable, having spent 30 years in law offices. So, it'd be very comfortable to me.

I am so enjoying re-watching Northern Exposure. It's on Prime for free. Anybody else remember the show?

I love to read as well but would kind of like to be a fly on the wall of some of the books that I read other than a character.

Last book. Angels by Billy Graham.
Who wouldn't want to hang out with the Angels?
Thanks so much for sharing that @Carol * — what a powerful choice! Angels by Billy Graham is such an inspiring read, and you're right—spending time with angels sounds like a peaceful and uplifting experience. Did reading the book change the way you think about spiritual protection or the unseen world? I’d love to hear what stood out most to you.

Last show I watched was The Players tournament in Ponte Vedra, FL. Beautiful area.
Thanks for sharing @ethylenelei ! That’s such a unique answer—The Players is always a great watch, and Ponte Vedra really does look stunning on screen. Are you a regular golf fan, or was this a one-off viewing? And if you were stuck there, would you rather be a spectator or out on the green playing a few rounds yourself? ⛳

Thanks for sharing @Rondareffner — sounds like a pretty easy choice given those two settings! The Aegean Sea definitely has its charm… crystal waters, sun-drenched islands—what’s not to love? Do you remember the name of the movie? And did it inspire any travel dreams or wanderlust while watching it?

Thanks so much for sharing that @JoyALorton ! That’s such a thoughtful answer—and how wonderful that Matlock with Kathy Bates ties in so closely with your own experience. Did you enjoy the way the legal world was portrayed in the show compared to real-life law offices? And did anything about the series make you feel nostalgic for your working days?

The Bible. No better place to be
Thank you for sharing that @Wellman — what a beautiful and meaningful choice. There really is no setting more powerful or timeless than the world of the Bible. Is there a particular story or moment in Scripture you’d most want to experience firsthand? I imagine that would be an unforgettable journey.

I am so enjoying re-watching Northern Exposure. It's on Prime for free. Anybody else remember the show?
Thanks for sharing @NIBOR0 ! Northern Exposure—what a classic! The quirky characters and small-town charm really made it something special. That remote Alaskan setting definitely has its own kind of magic. Who’s your favorite character, or is there an episode that still makes you smile after all these years?
