Im 61 and I've never attended one of mine either. I am on Facebook and I have most of my high school friends on there. They remember me and I'm forever grateful for each and every one of them

I like how you put it, @Litlhottie. Facebook lets you reconnect without the long drive or the uncomfortable shoes.

I didn't participate in sports so no connect there. I pretty much kept to myself. We moved my Sophomore year so I attended a new high school. Was never good at making friends. I usually had a boyfriend and it was just he and I throughout the rest of my high school days plus I worked nights and weekends so no time there. I'm 64 and never wanted to attend a reunion as I wouldn't know anybody there.

I can completely understand, @NIBOR0. Walking into a room full of near-strangers is never high on anyone’s wish list, so you made the choice that keeps you comfortable.

Reconnecting with friends. A lot of people come in from other states to the reunion. We have connected through social media but face to face is so much better. ln 2019, we had a 50 yr grade school reunion and loved seeing everyone. There were around 60 there out of 80 graduates. Our 50th high school reunion brought over 150 of us back together. California Florida Minnesota Texas NC SC Missouri and many other states all came home to Indiana for us to celebrate our milestone. lt was quite memorable and looking forward to our 55th in 2028. l have been to all but 5 of them

That really does sound like a Hallmark movie moment, @angib55. People flying in from all over just to be together is something special.

I went to alumni reunion at 49 years. One of classmates walked in and shook her finger at me like I was a child. Have never been back since and it's been 62 years since I graduated. Still get angry and some of things happened Senior year .. it was the unfairness of the way I was treated as a girl. Boys where thought of as being superior to females therefore different rules for things. At 80 years old only stay in contact with one friend of 70 years.

I am sorry that happened to you, @ConnSC1945. The good news is you still have the best part, which is a lifelong friend who has stood the test of time.

I would to go to a class reunion, my would be in Chicago, and I am living right now in Florida, so it is a ride, I went to Chicago last year after 50 year a of absence.

Fifty years away and then a trip back to Chicago is a reunion in itself, @Cochy. I bet the city had a few surprises for you.

I am glad you have those reunion memories with your late husband, @dkleslie52. These days, you get to decide if the trip is worth it, and it sounds like staying put works just fine.

Too far away, too busy with work and family. Besides, they are still a bunch of bullies.

If they are still acting like bullies, @Betty T, you are not missing much. Reunions are meant to be fun, not flashbacks.

I have no good memories of high school. I went to my 20 yr reunion in fortunately a lot of seemed to be frozen in time by attitude.

Frozen in time is great for ice cream, @cindyf80, but not so much for people. You deserve company that has grown since high school.

Other than band, orchestra and marching and pep band I wasn’t involved in anything. I had one pair of shoes for 6 years and 1 pair of sneakers. I had 3 skirts with one being my Senior Girl Scout uniform skirt and folded in the front GS signa in its little pocket. I wore my older brother’s hand me down shirts. I did wear them until 8th grade when they wouldn’t fit anymore for obvious reasons. I was a so-so student who hated school. I couldn’t possibly be a part of a clique. Didn’t have the clothes for it or the attitude they seemed to have about fellow students. I graduated halfway through my senior year. I was waiting for my 18th birthday so that I could join the Air Force. I never looked back. I had no interest whatsoever in reunions! I would feel like a big hypocrite if I did attend. Except for my 1 friend there wouldn’t be anyone I cared to see or hear about what was going on in their lives nor would I wish to share mine with them. I look at it like I survived a lousy time in my life and why would I want to look back at any of it fondly, which I guess what reunions are all about.

You really took the fast lane out, @Gayle B., and never looked back. It sounds like that was exactly the right road for you.

I have no desire to go to my high school reunion./ Why should I drop a large amount of money to sit in a bar. I don't drink and think it would be a waste of money and time.

That's so true, paying to sit in a bar when you do not drink, @Whisper does not sound appealing. Your money and time are better spent on things you truly enjoy.

I never went to my senior prom as a few weeks before the prom I broke up with my boyfriend. I was also robbed at school. They took my school ring, a double Pearl ring from my godparents and a custom made bracelet from my father. So I have never gone to any of my high school reunions.

I’m sorry you went through that, @Hazeleyes. No wonder you’d rather leave those memories in the past and focus on the good ones.
