When you’re out at a restaurant, what’s the one appetizer you just can’t resist ordering? For some, it’s the classic basket of onion rings or mozzarella sticks. Others swear by soups, salads, or something a little fancier like shrimp cocktail or bruschetta.

We all have that go-to starter—the dish that sets the tone for the meal and sometimes even steals the spotlight.

Most times I do not order appetizers unless it comes with the dinner. Since now I have to watch what I eat it is hard to say as it would depend on what is on menu and how it is prepared. mozzarella Or potato skins is okay.

Shrimp cocktail really does set the tone for the whole meal, @families2008. Feels a little fancy no matter where you order it.

I’m with you on potato skins, @Lynne LaMarco… crispy edges, melty cheese—what’s not to love? Fried mushrooms sound like trouble for me, I’d never stop eating them.

You’re right, @Hazeleyes, it really depends on the menu. But mozzarella sticks or potato skins? Hard to go wrong there.
