Brussel sprouts, I love them now as an adult
Thanks for sharing that @Gibb ! 😊 It’s funny how Brussels sprouts seem to win us over eventually! Do you have a favorite way to cook them — maybe roasted, with bacon, or tossed in a bit of balsamic glaze?

Thanks for sharing that @Gayle B. — what a story! 😄 I can just picture the poor dog giving away your secret plan with those Brussels sprouts. It’s great that you enjoy raw peppers, though — they’re so crunchy and sweet! Do you grow any of your own veggies these days, or just pick them up fresh from the market?
Our garden was small. It was 10/10’. We grew Swiss chard and tomatoes. That’s it. Our mom would go to the store and hang around the produce section. If anyone was buying beets, she boldly ask if they were going to use the leafy part. If not she would ask if she could have them. The customers were grateful because they paid less without the tops. Customers and my mom both felt they made a great bargain. Win win! Me and my brothers sat in the garden and eat tomatoes one after another. We eventually brought some inside. Some of the best times we 3 kids got along was playing together!

Thanks for sharing that @Hazeleyes ! Sounds like your palate has really expanded — mushrooms and asparagus can be delicious when cooked just right. 😋 I’m curious, what’s your favorite way to have them? And has anyone ever managed to make okra or Swiss chard in a way you’ve enjoyed?
Asparagus I liked steamed if boiled needs to still be firm. Mushrooms need to be sautéed lightly as if cooked to long becomes rubbery or looses It’s taste. No way no how has anyone made okra or Swiss chard in a way that I will enjoy. I tried to make it a few ways and do not like it.

Sorry I misread your comment. We did have a small garden before the carbon monoxide poisoning. We grew spinach and spring onions and tomatoes and chives. Spinach is absolutely my fav veggie! We are pretty much stuck inside and both of us have mobility issues. I suppose we can do an herb garden inside. I haven’t had the energy to make one. Maybe some day down the road.

Thanks for sharing that @TammyK ! 😊 Roasted parsnips with butter sound absolutely delicious — they get that lovely caramelized sweetness. Do you usually make them for special meals, or are they a regular on your dinner table now?
I make them for my husband and I a lot because I grow them in my garden and also can them. They are always on hand.
