Hello all! I am Mary aka cyclefreak
And as indicated by my aka, I love cycling. Also am an avid reader, and love to crochet, so varied interests, but my first love (right now) is cycling.
I
t's funny - I was told by a cycling friend that if I went to a new doctor to be sure to explain that for me, cycling is at least 30 miles, each ride and for the past five years it's been a minimum of 5000 miles per year. You read that right, five thousand. When I retired I decided I'd ride my bike as much as I wanted to, but didn't realize it would be so much. You just can't get the miles in and have a full time job, you see. Anyway, my friend said to let the new doctor know how many miles I usually ride, because s/he would look at my age (75) and think 3 wheeler and 10 or 12 miles. BTW, I ride a Trek Sylk, which is a road bike, that I paid more than $2000 for, and I've been a cyclist (PLEASE NOT a biker) for more than 25 years.
I've also been a reader, and cannot count the books I've read in my lifetime. I taught myself to knit and crochet too, when I stopped smoking at about age 22 YO. Still crochet and enjoy it, but only in the winter, because I just cannot handle yarn in the summer, it's just too hot. I like to make teddy bears and other amigrumi (little crochet animals), they are fun to make and the grands love them.
I hope to find folks here with similar interests!
