Introducing myself​

Hello, Grayviners,
I’m Kathleen, a 79 year old woman still struggling with filling my time and finding purpose in my senior years. I’ve never been married so I don’t share the commonalities with others of having in-law or grandchildren issues…or spouse issues. I live with my 14 year old rescue pup Bernie, who provides lots of joy and some structure to my life. I have peripheral neuropathy in feet and legs so I use a walker or 4 pronged cane.

I enjoy learning how others are coping with aging. Reading this, it appears that my life is pretty bleak. Not true. I do have friends with whom I socialize and have common interests.

As for filling your time and finding purpose, you’re definitely not alone in that journey. Aging can feel like a weird mix of “I’ve earned this freedom” and “Wait, what do I do with it now?” But you’re already ahead of the game by staying social, staying curious, and sharing your story with us. That’s what The GrayVine is all about—learning from each other, swapping stories, and maybe even picking up a new hobby or two along the way.
