Sometimes the best moments in life aren’t the ones we plan—they’re the ones that catch us by surprise. A call from a long-lost friend, a surprise visit from family, drinking an incredibly well-made cup of coffee, finding an amazingly written book. Happiness doesn’t always announce itself—it just shows up when you least expect it.

I went on a trip with a friend more than a decade ago, and we were wandering the streets late at night when we stumbled upon a little bookstore selling pre-loved books. It was like an oasis in the desert, glowing softly into the dark alley. What a joyful surprise! We bought a few books and tried to return the next day, but we couldn’t find the shop again. We even tried a day later—still no luck. It felt like magic.

I had gone over to my daughter's house to do laundry and see my grandchildren. My daughter had to leave to go put up our chunky monkey 8 mos odl grandson, Atlas. My 5 year old granddaughter said, "Let's sneak a treat, but you can't tell Mom". I agreed. She pointed to the purple Halloween bucket on top of the fridge and I picked out a smal Twizzler packet and she grabbed a gummy packet. She kept whispering,, "you can't tell Mom". Needless to say, I didn't tell Mom (my daughter0 and I got a big kick out of it. I figured if I said anything, I would have to admit that I had partaken from the bucket myself. It was our secret and it made me happy!
