Remember These Trick-Or-Treat Favorites?

Wrapped in crinkly orange and black paper, these chewy little candies were a Halloween staple for decades—whether you loved them or left them in the trick-or-treat bowl. They stuck to your teeth, sweetened your childhood, and somehow tasted a little like autumn itself. Do you remember unwrapping one of these on a chilly October night?

They’re peanut butter kisses, the taffy-like Halloween candies made by the Mary Jane brand and other confectioners. Known for their chewy texture and simple peanut-butter flavor, they’ve been dividing trick-or-treaters since the 1940s! Some remember them fondly; others remember trying to trade them away. Did they make it into your candy stash growing up?

Take a bite out of nostalgia and share your fun stories in the forum!

I probably had maybe 3 per year at Halloween. My grandparents gave them out. When we were pretty young our parents took us to their house and my grandmother handed out this candy. I liked it a lot but neither one of my brothers cared for them. Once we were old enough the 3 of us went door to door in our neighborhoods all by ourselves. That’s back when we were trusted out after dark without any parents or adults to accompany us kids.
