Sunday Classics 08.10.2025
Another week, another all-time great to celebrate!
Hey GrayViners!
I’ve got to say—you folks really know your music. Last week’s Sunday Classics brought in some fantastic suggestions, but one tune rose to the top with all the heart, charm, and foot-tapping nostalgia we love.
Big shout-out to GrayViner @Brenda J for suggesting this week’s winning pick: “Maggie May” by Rod Stewart!

This 1971 hit wasn’t even supposed to be the hit—it started as the B-side to “Reason to Believe”, but radio DJs and listeners had other plans. It quickly shot to number one in both the US and UK, and turned Rod Stewart into a household name almost overnight.
The song was partly inspired by a real-life experience from Stewart’s youth and mixes heartache with a little humor and a whole lot of soul. And fun fact: the iconic mandolin you hear near the end? Played by Ray Jackson of the band Lindisfarne, who was never officially credited on the single!
Now it’s your turn!
Drop your favorite classic tune in the comments below—something that still gets your toes tappin’ or brings back a memory. The suggestion with the most reactions will be featured in next week’s newsletter.

Keep the great music coming, GrayViners—you make every Sunday a little brighter!
Cheers!
Blue
