The King's Challenge
Once upon a time—back when kingdoms had castles and not cable bills—there lived a kind-hearted King with a very peculiar problem: his beautiful daughter, the Princess, had a strange condition. Everything she touched melted. Wood, metal, stone—didn’t matter. If she touched it, it turned to goo.
Naturally, no suitor was brave enough to marry a woman who might accidentally turn them into a puddle. The poor King was at his wits' end, so he turned to his trusted court wizard. The wizard said, “If the Princess can touch just one thing that doesn’t melt, she’ll be cured!”
So, the King did what Kings do—he held a grand competition. “Bring the Princess something that won’t melt,” he proclaimed, “and you’ll win her hand in marriage... and probably a decent chunk of the kingdom, too.”
Three brave young princes stepped forward.
The first brought a sword of the finest steel. The Princess took one look, touched it—and poof. Gone.
The second prince brought a sparkling diamond, confident nothing that shiny could ever melt. But the moment her fingers met the gem—melt city.
The third prince stepped up with a quiet grin and said, “Your Highness, kindly place your hand in my pocket and see what's inside.”
The Princess blushed, reached in... and pulled out something solid. And wouldn’t you know—it didn’t melt!
The kingdom rejoiced! The King cried happy tears. The Princess was cured. And the third prince and the Princess lived happily ever after.
So, what was in the prince’s pocket?
M&M’s, of course.
"They melt in your mouth, not in your hand."
