The Painting Lesson
The Mother Superior wanted a room redecorated and gave the task of repainting the walls to two young novices. They gathered all the brushes and paint, ready to begin, when one of them said,
“There’s a good chance we’ll get paint all over our habits.”
“You’re right,” said the other. “How can we avoid that?”
“I’ve got an idea,” said the first. “If we hang our habits neatly outside the door and wear some old aprons instead, we can paint freely without ruining them.”
“Good thinking!” said the second, and soon they were busy painting away.
Everything was going fine until there was a knock at the door and a man’s voice called, “Blind man!”
“Goodness,” said the first. “What should we do?”
“Don’t worry,” said the second. “We can let him in—he’s just here for the window coverings!”
She opened the door, and the man smiled and said, “Nice work in here! Now, where do you want me to hang these blinds?”
