The Secret Ingredient
After a long night shift at the hospital, a tired young doctor decided to unwind at a little bar across the street called Dick’s.
“What’ll it be?” the bartender asked.
“How about a daiquiri?” said the doctor.
Dick mixed one up, added a little something special, and slid it down the bar. The doctor took a sip and smiled. “Wow, that’s fantastic! What’s your secret?”
“A touch of almond extract,” Dick said with a grin. “Gives it a little extra kick.”
The two became fast friends, and soon the doctor was a regular customer.
One night, though, Dick discovered he was out of almond extract. Thinking quickly, he replaced it with a little hickory flavoring he had on hand.
The doctor took a sip, frowned, then tried another. “Wait a minute,” he said slowly, “is this an almond daiquiri, Dick?”
Dick shook his head and said, “No, it’s a hickory daiquiri, Doc.”
