What’s Beethoven up to?
When Beethoven passed away, he was buried in a quiet cemetery.
A couple of days later, the town drunk strolled by and heard faint music coming from the grave. Spooked, he ran and asked the priest to come and check it out. The priest leaned in and listened closely. "That's... Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony," he whispered. "But… it’s being played backwards."
Now thoroughly confused, they brought in the town magistrate. He listened for a moment and nodded. "That’s the Eighth Symphony. Also backwards."
They all stood there, puzzled, as the music continued—Seventh, Sixth, even the Fifth—all in reverse.
Finally, the magistrate straightened up and said, “My fellow citizens, there's nothing to worry about. It’s just Beethoven… decomposing.”
