Wherefore Art Thou, Brother?
I am new here and I am so glad I found this site! I have a family story. A little over 20 years ago I got a letter in the mail that said I had a brother whom I had never known. I was 50 years old at the time and I vaguely remembered my grandmother saying I had a brother when I was 10 years old. I just chalked it up to grandma "being senile" and thought no more of it. Then I received the letter from my brother's wife, telling me she had searched for me for 30 years. She later had my brother call me, and I could not deny him because he had the same voice as my father! It seems my father had met my brother's mother early in his life and she had refused his requests of marriage. Dad went on to marry two more times, the second being my mother. I had a sister and 2 stepsisters, but I never knew I had a brother. Anyway, I became close with my newfound family and even flew across country to visit them and there were quite a few nephews and nieces, whom I was thrilled to meet. My sister, however, denied that she had an unknown brother. Her loss!
