Today’s blast from the past: “Victrola”

Yes, Both my husbands and my families are owned a "Victrola". The saddest story is of my paternal grandfather. He had a rustic cabin and had his Vic with him there. Someone broke in and threw the old records are the interior of the cabin. Most shattering, other stuck in the log walls. Sad part was many of the were records of Enrico Caruso and other singers and classical music. Always thought what a waste. Would have loved to listen to those records.

Grandkids=no. Adult kids=yes but only to the extent that I used to tease their sister Victoria by calling her Victrola (she was slow to wind up but once she got going she was loud!).

The answer is that a Victorla is an old fashioned record player. My dad’s parents had one. We weren’t allowed to touch it. We loved listening to it though.
That not much of a story.

“Victrola” used to call it a record player
from the old company Victor Talking Machine Co.
It was bought out by RCA . They made record players
under the Victrola brand name...
anybody ever seen a hand crank victrola ??
