Would You Rather? 04.04.2025

Hey GrayViners!

I’ve got a fun question for you today:

Would you rather always have perfect weather wherever you go OR never get stuck in traffic again?

Personally, I’m all about skipping traffic. Imagine never having to sit in that endless line of cars again! What a dream, right?

But I’m curious to hear what you all think—would you choose the weather or the traffic-free life?

Drop your answers below, and let’s get the conversation going! Can’t wait to see what you all choose.

Cheers!
Blue 💙

Definitely never get stuck in traffic again. So many people lose control of their tempers, get impatient, give you the universally recognizable one finger salute, etc. Please calm down, when we can move you bet we will. Whereas with the weather I can dress up or down to suit the situation , run the air conditioner or heater depending upon the need. Carry an umbrella or where a Panamá hat if the scalp is going to bake. So get rid of the traffic and I'll be ecstatic. And thank you for auto spell on these. I'd be blocking the highway trying to correct my grammar.

I've thought about this a lot I'm in the Midwest,in a too big city, traffic and people everywhere all the time.the downside to moving to a less traffic city is probably too crowded and a place that's hot all the time would be even more overpopulated so I stay here cuz my kids and grandkid is here.i just bellyache alot!

Perfect weather! To never have to worry about the barometer taking a nosedive again would be an absolute dream for me!
Having been in pain for 40 years since I was 21 I’m tired of it. I’ve had spinal fusions. I have multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, fibromyalgia and other smaller things.
I could enjoy the outside. Maybe take walks with my dog. Get vitamin D.

As weird as it sounds I don’t mind being stuck in traffic. No really. Being stuck like that is a wonderful way for me to unwind from my work day and put work on the back burner as I meditate…safely in the car. It gives me an opportunity finish planning supper and how I want to spend my evening. That’s okay with me. Don’t get me wrong though I could handle perfect weather but there is something
special about the time I spend on my way home.

Living in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area, we already have "perfect weather" so I'd definitely choose never to be stuck in traffic. It's horrendous commuting to SF everyday. What should be a 25-30 minute drive usually becomes an 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive everyday.

Even though i prefer perfect weather i detest being stuck in a traffic jam. Tempers flare and drivers get aggressive. I have seen them try and pass on the right hand side on the shoulder. And so many people get gun crazy.

Perfect weather for me. Living in Florida and never having to worry about a hurricane suits me just fine. I can handle traffic over them any day. Besides, at 78, I don't venture that far from home, unless I'm flying.

Thanks so much for sharing @Justme — you paint quite the picture of traffic frustration! You're right, the weather we can usually prepare for, but being stuck behind the wheel with hot-headed drivers? Not so easy to fix with a hat or an umbrella! Have you noticed traffic getting worse lately where you live, or has it always been like that? And I had to smile at your nod to auto spell — it really does save the day sometimes, doesn’t it?

Perfect weather because it effects me 24hours around the clock where as I don't mind traffic jams. Might even meet a new friend.
Thanks for sharing your take @Viking ! That’s such a lovely perspective — perfect weather really can lift your mood all day and night. And I admire your patience with traffic; not many people see it as an opportunity to make a new friend! Have you ever actually struck up a conversation during a traffic jam or while waiting somewhere? I’d love to hear how that went!

Thanks so much for sharing @moppyroda — it sounds like you’ve really weighed up the pros and cons. Big city life definitely has its challenges, especially with traffic and crowds, but being close to your kids and grandkid makes it all worth it. And hey, a good bellyache now and then is completely allowed! Have you ever daydreamed about the “perfect place” to live if family weren’t a factor — maybe somewhere quieter with nicer weather?

Never get stuck in traffic. Living in the Houston area, traffic is HORRIBLE! And too many road rages are out carrying a gun.
Thanks for sharing @Mama2katz — that sounds really stressful. I’ve heard Houston traffic is no joke, and when road rage is involved, it can go from frustrating to frightening very quickly. Wanting to avoid all that makes perfect sense. Do you find certain times of day or areas are worse than others, or is it just constantly hectic where you are?

No traffic. I am laid back most of the time but traffic jams make me anxious. When I live has mild winters so I can deal with the weather.
Thanks for sharing @valyowell ! It’s interesting how even the most laid-back people can feel their nerves tighten in traffic — it really does bring out a different side of us sometimes. Sounds like you’ve got a good balance with your mild winters though! Do you have any go-to ways to stay calm when you do find yourself stuck in traffic, or do you just grit your teeth and wait it out?

Thank you so much for sharing @Indygal462 . You’ve been through an incredible amount, and I can absolutely understand why perfect weather would feel like such a dream. It’s heartbreaking how something as simple as a barometric change can cause so much extra pain on top of everything else you're already dealing with. Your wish to enjoy the outdoors more, walk with your dog, and soak up some sunshine is so beautifully simple — and so deeply meaningful. Do you get any windows of "good" weather where you are now that allow you to do that, even just a little?

Thanks so much for sharing @Gayle B. — not weird at all! I actually love your perspective. Turning traffic time into a peaceful transition from work to home is such a mindful way to end the day. It’s rare to hear someone speak about traffic as something restorative, but it really makes sense the way you’ve described it. Have you always approached your commute this way, or was it something you had to learn over time?

It makes sense. It’s alone time.
Thanks for chiming in @Indygal462 ! You’re absolutely right — sometimes that alone time, even in traffic, can be surprisingly valuable. It’s like a built-in pause button before diving into the rest of the day. Do you find yourself using that time to think, listen to something, or just enjoy the quiet?
