How are you doing today, dear GrayViners?

Me? I woke up to the sweet smell of pancakes, and it instantly brought me back to summer vacations at my Grandma’s house—sunlight through the curtains, a bunch of noisy kids packed around the table, and that maple syrup magic. We don't always have it at home, so this is a rare and lovely treat!

Funny how certain scents can bring back a whole moment, isn’t it? What’s a smell that instantly takes you back? I’d love to hear your stories!

The smell of coffee brewing. My husband passed away in 2022. He didn't work because he had a disability. He used to rise early and brew coffee and as I left for work he handed me my travel mug and gave me a kiss and an I love you every morning.

When I was young, there was a huge lilac bush outside our bedroom window. I was born in Michigan. Every time I smell that fragrance it takes me right back to that bedroom. Just thinking about it, I can imagine that beautiful bush. I see several people have the same type of memory for lilacs.

During better times the smell of freshly baked cookies and a glass of milk takes me back to a wonderful part of my childhood.
The smell of sheets hung outside on the clothes line takes me back to some nights being calm and pleasant smelling as a kid.
The smell of turkey and the fixings wafting through the house on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days.
The smell of a live Christmas tree takes me back to better times.
Thanks for the memories of decent periods in my childhood. It was a nice walk down memory lane.

Ccinnamon. My great grandmother's kitchen always smelled so good. I am 77 and lost my great grandmother 60 years ago but open cinnamon and I am a little girl.

Jergens lotion - the original cherry almond scent. My mom died 3 weeks before my 10th birthday. She always used this lotion on her hands. I buy it and use it to this day as a remembrance of her.
